Two Dirt-Cheap Travel Essentials That Save Me $600 Per Year

One downside to travel is that you often “reset” your appliances and amenities. If you own a house with a washing machine, coffee maker, and water cooler — those are all there every time you come home.

But when you travel, many essential items simply are not there.

And you either have to buy them yourself, or overspend on a temporary solution.

Here are two cheap travel essentials that I’ve started carrying with me. Both these items save me hundreds of dollars per year. And I recommend them to anyone who travels.

1. A Portable Water Pump

I drink bottled water. And I use it for cooking.

At a grocery store, water is typically $2–$3 for a 5-liter bottle.

I usually go through two bottles per week. Or, about $240 worth of water per year.

Less about the money and more about the plastic waste, I decided to change this. And I actually bought a rechargeable water pump earlier this year.
