This Oil Company Is Yielding How Much?
High-yield Colombian oil giant Ecopetrol ($EC) just declared their 2025 dividend.
This extremely volatile energy firm is known for two things: wild share price fluctuations (great news for options traders), and double-digit starting dividend yields.
This is a state-owned oil company that provides essential services throughout Colombia. Ecopetrol drills for oil, refines petroleum products, operates pipelines, and even uses the bitumen from their refineries to build and maintain toll roads across the country.
Additionally, Ecopetrol stock is dirt-cheap. And, the company typically yields anywhere from 10% — 27% in annual dividends.
Ecopetrol is different from oil majors like Chevron, in that Ecopetrol pays a variable dividend based off the company’s profits. This means that the dividend fluctuates from year to year.
And in this year, Ecopetrol declared a 214.00 Colombian Peso dividend.
This may sound small, but this payout is per Colombian share. NYSE-listed Ecopetrol shares, ticker symbol $EC, are equal to 20 shares listed on the Colombian Stock Exchange.
So for U.S. investors, that 214.00 Colombian Peso dividend is actually 4280.00 Colombian Pesos.
