Which leads to an article I recently saw on Forbes, titled “30 Side Hustle Ideas To Make Extra Money In 2024.”
The “side hustles” suggested include all the usual suspects like freelance writing, blogging, and — my personal favorite — becoming a viral social media celebrity.
Here’s the thing…
Most of these activities are an enormous waste of time and you’d be better off getting a part-time job.
Blogging / Substack / YouTube requires herculean amounts of upfront effort. And, there’s no guarantee that you’ll ever make a cent from all your hard work.
Likewise, freelancing requires you to spend huge amounts of time on client acquisition. And, you’re only paid per project.
Hardly a source of consistent, or passive, income.
In a world where the Walmart in rural Iowa pays $22 per hour, there’s no reason to run the treadmill of “side hustles” that pay below the poverty line.
