One example is RagingBull.com — a stock trading signal service that heavily advertised on YouTube with promises of private jets and exotic cars. The FTC shutdown the business and fined RagingBull’s owners $2.4 million for deceiving customers.
And that’s just the tip of the iceberg. According to the FTC, scams and consumer fraud cases rose 70% in the past year, with many of the victims being between the ages of 20 and 29.
A lot of these scams involve phony investment funds, sales programs that are ultimately pyramid schemes, and fake work-from-home opportunities.
