End Of The Year Portfolio Review
In 2021, my stock market portfolio returned 35.36%.
This is based on capital gains up until December 24th, and it excludes any outstanding options premiums. Though, if you’re curious, these are my soon-to-expire covered calls:
Rather than going through each individual asset, I wanted to look at some highs and lows throughout the year as well as discussing a few valuable investing lessons.
Without further ado, here’s the list.
Best Investments
Most of my stock picks are boring value plays. Companies that are productive and profitable, but aren’t necessarily high-growth or in the public eye.
In terms of pure share price appreciation, Gazprom is my highest returning stock of the year, gaining 51.48%. Gazprom is a huge natural gas company located in Russia, and its share price was very depressed throughout the first half of 2021, because of the Nord Stream 2 controversy.
AbbVie is another high-return stock I own, with a total gain of 39.52%.
