Paraguay. It’s often called “The Most Boring Country On Earth.” But, sometimes, boring is good. Paraguay has one of the most stable currencies in South America. The country produces 10 times more food than it consumes. And, the cost of living is extremely low.

Best of all, these low prices extend to real estate.

You can buy a property through a traditional broker like RE/MAX or Century 21 for less than $50,000. Doing some boots on the ground research during a recent trip to Paraguay, I noticed that most real estate isn’t listed online. And, these local parcels are significantly cheaper than anything you’ll see on the Internet.

What’s more, many Paraguayan landowners buy cheap, empty lots and build houses in a similar style to what you’d see if you stayed at a classic American motel.

Traditional Motel Design For Reference

These are two-story buildings with a “storefront” layout. But in Paraguay, the entire first floor is one large unit for the homeowner and their family, while the second story is dividend into 3–4 apartment units.

The average rent in Paraguay is around $300 per month.
