The Internet is filled with bad advice. But few beliefs are worse than than the idea that everybody needs to be an entrepreneur, and having a job is somehow embarrassing or shameful.

Most traditional entrepreneurs, such as small business owners who operate restaurants or coffee shops, struggle to stay afloat.

And that’s just scratching the surface.

Online ventures are a thousand times more competitive while typically paying infinitely less. For today’s article, I’ve asked ChatGPT to “Give me a list of 5 easy side hustles to make $1,200 a month.”

And we’ll see how these compare to a typical, boring part-time job.

1. Freelance Writing

Freelance writing is a waste of time.

At least in the popular online sense where freelancers search for gigs on platforms like Fiverr or Upwork.

Both sites are filled with customers who want their projects done as cheaply as possible. This means competing with writers who charge $0.01 per word. Or, getting undercut by AI content farms that charge even less.

On top of this, successful freelancers need to be good at sales.
