5 Life Lessons I Learned From My Grandmother

Many predictions about finance, society, or technology have a pessimistic view of the future. Hyperinflation will make retirement impossible. Wars and new diseases will kill everybody. And technology will create some sort of dystopian nightmare world.

Negativity sells, making it easy to peddle doom and gloom.

Today’s article does the opposite.

I want to highlight the long and fulfilling life of my Grandmother, someone who’s a personal hero of mine.

Here are five lessons I learned from her about getting older, setting long-term goals, and dealing with turbulent times.

1. Set Big Goals And Stick With Them

When my Grandmother turned 39, she decided she was never going to get old. A pretty big goal and one that sounds unrealistic.

Yet, at 89, she’s still physically and mentally active.

She plays golf and bridge every week, competes in a local trivia night, volunteers at food bank, and remains a voracious reader. She also innovates with whatever new technologies are popular.

When the iPhone came out, she got one. And learned all the features.

A few years ago, she heard the grandkids talking about their Airbnb stays. So…
