1. Average Life Expectancy Is Not A Guarantee
In 2019, I was walking down the street and saw a friend’s parents eating at a little restaurant. I stopped by and chatted with them for a few minutes, then went on with my day. Nobody knew it at the time, but a few weeks later my friend’s dad would be diagnosed with a rare form of cancer.
He died the following June.
Most people never think about death. Or more specifically, their death.
I’m 29 and can already fill up both hands while counting all the friends and acquaintances who’ve died long before reaching “average life expectancy.”
Delayed gratification is fine. But putting off your dreams, or “toughing it out” in a job you hate, is dangerous. There’s no guarantee that you’re going to reach age 65 so you can retire and do all the things on your bucket list.
