2022 Portfolio Review
In 2022, my stock market portfolio returned 8.95%.
I was up considerably more (over 15%) before the recent Fed meeting. But, life happens.
In a year when the S&P 500 lost 20.13%, being up anything is still good.
Rather than going stock-by-stock, which is boring, I’ll share my highs and lows throughout the year. As well as several important financial lessons.
Here we go!
Best Investments
This was a pretty unexciting year. At least in terms of big winners.
In fact most of my gains came from setting limit orders and buying at times of extreme fear.
On top of this, my strategy of purchasing inexpensive companies with low PE ratios meant that many investments were already cheap to begin with. Any good news, and their stock prices increased.
This was the case with Industrias Bachoco, a Mexican egg producer and value stock I bought-into last year.
Bachoco did nothing during the big bull-run of 2021.
But this year, it’s up considerably, with my position delivering 19.45% returns — without factoring in dividends.
